Powered by JAM MUSIC LAB Privatuniversität, AKM, SKE, Veranstalterverband Österreich and supported Kultur.Region.Niederösterreich: From 19 to 22 September 2024, this top-class event at Bühnenwirtshaus Juster in the Waldviertel will offer four days of exciting workshops from the very broad field of media music. Anyone interested in the fields of songwriting, music production, film scoring and game audio is cordially invited to take part in Music in the Woods. No matter whether you are studying music, already have practical experience or are simply passionate about these areas. Everyone is welcome! There is no age limit! Music in the Woods – What It’s About

Stimmung Wald und Wasser Music in the Woods

Music in the Woods aims to promote Austrian music creation in the areas of songwriting, music production, film scoring, and game audio. By combining practice and theory under the guidance of well-known national and international music producers, „Music in the Woods“ offers a unique opportunity for talents to hone their skills and establish themselves in the media music industry. With follow-up projects after the event at JAM MUSIC LAB Private University, the entry into the music market is facilitated. Additionally, after Music in the Woods, the three participants with the best works will be awarded. They can win further workshops and meetings with renowned Austrian composers at home and abroad.

Participation Requirements

  • Austrian citizens and non-Austrian citizens residing in Austria
  • Application deadline: August 25, 2024
  • No age limit. Minors may only participate if accompanied by an adult.

Interested individuals should send the following documents in a zip file to musicinthewoods@jammusiclab.com. For any inquiries, you can also contact this email address.

  • (Artistic) CV
  • Motivation letter: This should outline your goals and interests in Music in the Woods
  • Project proposal documents: Depending on the project, these can be audio or video recordings (formats: mp3, m4a, imov, etc.), as well as scores, work, and concept descriptions. It’s important that the project is comprehensible and feasible based on these materials.

What is offered to Participants

Studiodays

The top 30 applicants will receive a full scholarship for free participation in Music in the Woods. This includes meals, accommodation (shared rooms, two persons per room), and the offered workshops. Great Pool of partners and lecturers

Among the lecturers are renowned personalities such as Grammy winner Georg Luksch, Michael Klimas, producer and singer of Söhne MannheimsOliver Schmellenkamp, producer in the field of film and games music and head of the media music department at JAM MUSIC LAB Private University; the renowned Hollywood composers Adam Lukas and Paul Haslinger; Martin Kromarfrom Echopilot, (who produced the super hit „Cordula Grün“ with Josh.); Thomas Rabitsch and many others. The jury for selecting the candidates is also high-calibre: among them are the JAM professors Monika Herzig, Julia Hofer, and Yu-Chun Huang.

The Accommodation: The Juster Bühnenwirtshaus in Gutenbrunn

From a simple village inn in 1933, the family business developed into a country inn for summer holidays from the 1970s. Since 1994, the first stage inn was created here, which had already counted over 1300 performances by 2015 and has become an exemplary place of regional and international culture and cabaret scenes.
